DETERMINATION - IF U CAN DREAM IT ,YOU CAN DO IT

This is one of the most inspiring true story i have ever encountered. I posted it just to prove one point “Impossible is Nothing”
Please read the full story and try to learn something from it.
Once Upon a Time…

In 1883, a creative engineer named John Roebling was inspired by an idea to build a spectacular bridge connecting New York with the Long Island. However bridge building experts throughout the world thought that this was an impossible feat and told Roebling to discard the idea. It just could not be done. It was not practical. It has never been done before.

Roebling could not ignore the vision he had in his mind of this bridge. He thought about it all the time and he knew deep in his heart that it could be done. He just had to share the dream with someone else. After much discussion and persuasion he managed to convince his son Washington, an upcoming engineer, that the bridge in fact could be built.

Working together for the first time, the father and son developed concepts of how it could be accomplished and how the obstacles could be overcome. With great excitement and inspiration, and the headiness of a wild challenge before them, they hired their crew and began to build their dream bridge.

A Tragic Accident…
The project started well, but when it was only a few months underway, a tragic accident on the site took the life of John Roebling. Washington was injured and left with a certain amount of brain damage, which resulted in him not being able to walk or talk or even move.

"We told them so."
"Crazy men and their crazy dreams."
"It`s foolish to chase wild visions."

He Never Gave Up…
Everyone had a negative comment to make and felt that the project should be scrapped since the Roebling’s were the only ones who knew how the bridge could be built. In spite of his handicap Washington was never discouraged and still had a burning desire to complete the bridge and his mind was still as sharp as ever.

He tried to inspire and pass on his enthusiasm to some of his friends, but they were too daunted by the task. As he lay on his bed in his hospital room, with the sunlight streaming through the windows, a gentle breeze blew the flimsy white curtains apart and he was able to see the sky and the top of the trees outside for just a moment.

It seemed that there was a message for him not to give up. Suddenly an idea hit him. All he could do was move one finger and he decided to make the best use of it. By moving this, he slowly developed a code of communication with his wife.

He touched his wife's arm with that finger, indicating to her that he wanted her to call the engineers again. Then he used the same method of tapping her arm to tell the engineers what to do. It seemed foolish but the project was under way again.

For 13 years Washington tapped out his instructions with his finger on his wife's arm, until the bridge was finally completed. Today the spectacular Brooklyn Bridge stands in all its glory as a tribute to the triumph of one man's indomitable spirit and his determination not to be defeated by circumstances.

It is also a tribute to the engineers and their team work, and to their faith in a man who was considered mad by half the world. It stands as a tangible monument to the love and devotion of his wife who for 13 long years patiently decoded the messages of her husband and told the engineers what to do.

Perhaps this is one of the best example of a never-say-die attitude that overcomes a terrible physical handicap and achieves an impossible goal.

Moral of the Story…
Often when we face obstacles in our day-to-day life, our hurdles seem very small in comparison to what many others have to face. The Brooklyn Bridge shows us that dreams that seem impossible can be realized with determination and persistence, no matter what the odds are.

Even the most distant dream can be realized with determination and persistence.

Your Aim must be your Dream…
So Never Give up and just move on with your preparations. Don’t listen to those who say that you are not suitable to crack AIPMT. You won’t be able to do this or that...
In short just don’t listen to those who discourage you. Just stay away from them.
If a student is aiming for AIPMT, AIIMS,EAMCET or any exam then he/she must never give up and try to give his/her best.
Michael Jordan said, "Obstacles don't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it."
If you can dream it, you can do it…
Cheers

TIPS TO OVERCOME FEAR

HOW TO OVERCOME FEAR ?

Steps in overcoming fear can be summarized under the following headings:

1)Remember, fear is a response developed in the animal world to protect animals from life and death situations. Whenever you are in a situation that invokes fear or whenever you are thinking about such a situation, ask yourself, “Is this a life or death situation?” In more than 99% of the situations that we are afraid of, it is NOT. Then, tell yourself “Since this is not a life and death situation, and fear is a response designed for life and death situations, I need NOT invoke my fear response NOW”. Than, RELAX as explained below. In technical terminology, this may be termed as RECONTEXTUALIZATION.

2)RELAXATION: You have heard this time and again but this IS important: Breathe DEEee…PLYyyy.. and SLOooo..WLYyy…The time taken for you to say “One thousand and one” is roughly one second. To begin with, count from one thousand and one to one thousand and seven to breathe IN and one thousand and eight to one thousand and fourteen to breathe OUT.

REPEAT!

REPEAT!

Over a period of time, you can progressively increase the duration of your each breath by increasing the counts that you make during each cycle

Sometimes, clinching your fists for 10 seconds ad then, releasing them can also help you overcome your fears in an acute situation.

3)VISUALIZATION: When you are not in an acute situation and do anticipate a “frightening” situation (Hopefully, by the end of this article, nothing will be frightening to You!), VISUALIZE it. PICTURE it on the screen of your mind. This is a capability only you have as a human being. Visualize each and every detail of the situation that you possibly can. Now, using steps 1 and 2, IMAGINE how you actually want to handle the situation Confidently. PRACTICE your VISUALZATION AGAIN and AGAIN. Remember, especially if your fears involve other people, think and VISUALIZE “WIN/WIN” solutions.

4)AFFIRMATION: Write down your fears. Then, on another piece of paper, write an affirmation as if you have already conquered your fears. Write in PRESENT TENSE and in FIRST PERSON. Remember, the affirmation needs to be POSITIVE and driven by UNIVERSAL PRINCIPLES (e.g., DO NOT write “I don’t want to be afraid of others”. Instead, write “I (first person) am (present tense) confident (positive) of serving others (universal principle).” Your affirmation can be a paragraph long. In your affirmation, you can write the steps you are taking to overcome the fears. You can also write the benefits that overcoming fear brings for you. For example, It gives you Happiness, Peace, Security and Wisdom. Paste multiple copies of this affirmation in your house or work area. Refer to it and visualize it daily for at least three weeks.

5)FAITH: Have FAITH in God or a Superior Power. Feel its Presence with you, always. Also, remember and believe that if you follow Universal Principles of Service, Harmony, Mutual Benefit and Trust, and act accordingly in daily life, God’s power will always be with you. Such is the Universal Law! ACCEPT Death as a Natural Consequence of Life!

6)SHARE: Share your thoughts with others and help them become fearless as well. This reinforces your Courage.

7)EVOLVE: By following these steps, you can Grow and Evolve out of your fears into Courage, Confidence, Security, Wisdom and Peace.

Remember, fear is the basis of all other negative emotions like Anger, Jealousy, Anxiety, Rivalry, Frustration and Disenchantment. You can address each of those emotions by thinking of them as manifestations of fear and applying the above steps.

May God’s Force Be With You!

HOW TO PREPARE FOR MEDICAL ENTRANCE EXAMINATIONS

Fortunately or unfortunately, competitive exams have become a strict norm for selection to various professional courses in our country. Notwithstanding the demerits of such a system, competitive exams are a reality for the lakhs of students who appear in them every year.

In such a scenario, everyone wants to success. Success in these exams brings immense glory and confidence to the individuals, besides giving them a clear cut break into the career line of their choice. However, seats are limited and not everyone who appears can be selected. This does not mean that those who are not selected do not deserve a training in these courses. It only means that there aren't sufficient seats to accommodate all the deserving candidates.

Keeping this background in mind, let us explore what it takes to succeed in these competitive exams particularly at the undergraduate level.

To my mind, the first prerequisite for success in these examinations is determination. The candidate must be quite sure of his level of motivation. Without a high level of motivation, no one can go through the rigorous preparation process. Thus, you must be absolutely determined to give your best efforts in your endeavor.

Once one is sufficiently motivated, one needs to be ready to give sufficient number of hours of his or her time in studies. This is real hard work and involves significant sacrifices on the part of the individual. "All work and no play, makes Jack a dull boy". Therefore it is also important that the candidate does take out some time for relaxation either through sports, music or other art forms. Regular exercise ( about 15 - 20 minutes ) every day will help maintain a healthy body which in turn will house a healthy mind.

The third requirement, is selection of the right study material. One should not go for shortcuts. Instead, try to understand the chapters / concepts in detail and practice sufficient number number of questions. Therefore go for standard textbooks, study materials provided, as various correspondence courses and other coaching institutions serve as supplementary and complementary material to the textbook material.

The fourth consideration is an appropriate 'Study Strategy'. A very common question which students ask is, How to balance the school studies with competitive exam study. Think that school studies can be incorporated within the broad framework of one's competitive exams' preparation strategy. One strategy is to look at each chapter as a chapter to be learnt, a material to be mastered; rather than dichotomizing it as school & competitive exam-related study material. Ultimately, if one's clear about the concepts of say, "Current & Electricity", and has practiced sufficient number of questions / numericals ; one can face any examination whether of school or competition. One can use periodical tests in school as an opportunity to master the material that one has collected rather than restricting yourself to the limited knowledge & practice that is needed for doing well in the periodical test itself. Of course, you may not be able to complete all the practice material for one test but clear the concepts. You can use the rest of the practice material for revision and self evaluation at a later time. As the examinations come closer, practicing previous years papers is also key to doing well in these examinations.

Also revise the important concepts, facts, problems that you would have marked during during your 1.5 - 2 years of preparation before the examination.

On the day of examination, keep your cool and attempt the questions. Remember, if you have given your best during the last 1.5 - 2 years, you need not fear anything. Ultimately, only effort and not the result is in your hand. Which you should do to your maximum capability as outlined above. Rest is your destiny or luck. So go ahead, give your best and leave the rest!

Happy preparing!!
